Conduits Technologies, Inc. Releases Clarity 1.0 for Windows CE
TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA, February 1, 2000 -- Conduits Technologies, Inc.
today announced the release of Clarity 1.0 for Windows CE.
Clarity is a typographical technology demo for the platform.
Clarity is a demonstration of harnessing the properties of a color
LCD device. It implements a method of antialiasing text (reducing
"jaggies" from text display) to provide a much cleaner presentation
of textual information than previously accomplished on Windows CE.
Since a color LCD has individual red, green, and blue components
in each pixel of the display, by altering the luminance of
these components when rendering text, one can make the edges,
curves, and corners of text to appear much finer and less
jagged than before. This differs from "standard antialiasing"
which simply colors "in-between" parts of a jagged line with
Clarity is an example of this technology, and lets the user
select the font type, size, and properties to render. There
is also the option to change the characters rendered. In
addition, the mixing values of the filtering process are
available for fine tuning.
Clarity is available free from www.conduits.com. More information
regarding "color antialiasing" is there, as well as examples.
Clarity technology is available for licensing. Send email
to email@example.com for more information. Conduits
develops several other commercial applications for Windows CE,
including Pocket Artist (a painting and image manipulation
program), Pocket Browser (an online web browser for P/PC), and
Pocket Player (an MP3 player).
