Conduits Technologies Inc. Releases PalmBrowser 1.5
for Palm-size PCs running Windows CE
TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA, September 9, 1999 -- Conduits Technologies Inc. today
announced the public release of PalmBrowser 1.5 for Palm-size PCs
running Windows CE. PalmBrowser is an online and offline web browser for
the small devices, enabling mobile connectivity to the web.
PalmBrowser allows users of the devices (both grayscale "Gryphon" units
as well as color "Wyvern" units) to connect to the web and browse
content from their device in a mobile fashion. The browser can
view offline or online content (via a wired or wireless connection
to the device), and supports GIF, JPEG, and BMP images.
The new version establishes a bit of a different interface for
PalmBrowser, as well as many major architectural advances,
making it more powerful than before. Features introduced
include HTTP authentication support, cookie support,
multilingual browsing, frames support, and downloading of
Additionally, PalmBrowser includes some features that make
sense only on the small form-factor device, such as URL Helpers
that allow for quick entry of URLs into the address bar, or
"Pan-and-scan" HTML mode which allows for better layout of
websites. Since wireless bandwidth for Palm-size PCs can
be somewhat scarce, options such as "don't download images
greater than a specified size" exist, as well as the option
to not load any at all.
PalmBrowser 1.5 is available for a 50-use trial
from http://www.conduits.com/ce/browser/, where the user
can download and try it out unabridged for the
evaluation period. PalmBrowser 1.5 is available for $19.95
from CEShopper.com (http://www.ceshopper.com) for the month
of September, after which it will be priced at $24.95.
