There should be some way to export and import data in the city database.

I have Version 1.25 and just noticed that there's a 1.251. I'm worried that, if I install the new version, I'll lose my customizations to the city database and have to enter them again by hand. Is that worry justified?

Thanks,
Steve

Thank you for posting!

The only fix in version 1.251 was with the pwtones.dat file, in which we corrected the GMT daylight savings time settings.

Indeed, if you load 1.251 ontop of 1.25, you will lose your custom cities (something we will be addressing for the next release).

To keep this from happening, create a copy of your pwcities.dat file (in \Program Files\Conduits\Pocket Watch on your device) via File Explorer's Copy/Paste commands, and then install 1.251 ontop of 1.25.

Then, move the original pwcities.dat back to the original location (overwriting the "stock" version installed by 1.251), and your cities will be restored.

Hope this helps!

Yes, that helped. I don't think I need the 1.251 version, so I'll just wait for the next version that saves custom cities.

By the way, have you considered putting pwcities.dat in the \Windows directory and documenting its format so that other developers could use it?

After Microsoft removed the city database in Pocket PC 2002, other programs that relied on it broke, so it would be nice if those programs could be modified to use pwcities.dat and support Pocket PC 2002.

The program I'm thinking of specificially is MoveAppt, which requires a city database.

Thanks,
Steve

Pony99CA,

That sounds like an interesting idea. We'll try to accomodate such a feature in the next release. Thanks!
